With a vision to produce classic boom bap rap music, MC’s Species & Pleura bring a grounded sound back to a scene that has somewhat lost focus at times. Shaping their honest & direct lyrics to focus on personal life, politics & hip hop culture into modern day classic rap tracks, Fundamental Elements manage to seamlessly capture the hype of their party vibe & energetic live show in the studio. Along with the help of seasoned DJ Johnny Love, a recent new addition to the crew at all live shows, 3 recent years of travel for the members sees 2013 mark a fresh start in the way of shows & releases.
After remaining quiet for some time, F E are set to release their second EP, ‘The Homecoming’, in early 2013 featuring production from Species & Pleura, as well as a healthy dose of production from local Brisbane beat smith Cam Bluff (Vegas Aces, Born Fresh) who is steadily cementing a place in the Australian hip hop scene in his own right . The group has taken a hard-line stance in its release, while it will be available as a free release on limited hard copies & all digital formats, they have left no stone unturned to ensure that all aspects of the EP are of the up-most highest quality.
Fundamental Elements recently supported Immortal Technique (US) on the Queensland leg of his 2012 Australian tour. Past gigs have seen the crew share the stage with such acts as Muph & Plutonic, Illzilla, Eastborn (UK), DJ Katch, Brass of Celcuis Crew, Rainman & Calski, Daily Meds, Kings Konekted, Pure Product and Coalition Crew amongst many other local artists.
As well as releasing their debut EP ‘Living Secrets’, Fundamental Elements have also featured on various albums & releases, including ‘Read Between The Rhymes’ album by The Allegiance; ‘Fun Not Fame Mixtape Vol 1’ mixtape by Velvet Couch & Clockwork Records; ‘Nurcha Mixtape Vol 2’ mixtape by Nurcha Records amongst other releases.
